favorite lever gun

Win 73

Winchester 73 is my favorite, mostly because of the way it looks and feels
but I like shooting 38/40 and 44/40 too. They are a very smooth action
to use.Regards 375rum

PS Rob,ya can have it back when I die LOL I'll tell the wife.Pete

Seems bullcoon and 375rum are both missing the first rule of gun trading. You are supposed to check them out and fondle and even shoot them a little and then, SEND THEM BACK to the unfortunate member you got them from.
I love the idea of the .577/450 or even better, the .577 Super Snider. Did anyone else see this? A .577 Snider lengthened to 2.75"(.577NE case shortened) and loaded into the strong Martini action that easily takes the .577/450. This looks like one hell of a 100 yard stomper, only holds one but it has a lever.

mmmmmmm

l like the idea of a monsterous 577 -585 caliber with a 40 inch plus, 15 lb barrel mounted on a reidl lever action rob?and then that 450 alaskan would sprout wings and fly back home to whitehorse on its own partner.

You'd better talk to our friend the smith, not much has happened on that .577 lately. Maybe you can bullcoon him along a little.

It strikes me that things are getting a little out of hand........ :D

My favourite gun of course is the Browning BLR, I have one in every calibre except the elusive .222, but Billy the Kid will sell me his, some day.

As promised, you'll be first in line Pat IF I ever part with it!;) :p :)

why, another vote for the 45-70g!!...shooting 550 hard cast at 1530fps it my "go to" gun for everything!.....larry:D

I've always been torn about the BLR. I like them with the pistol grip stock, they're really lightweight, and the mag is good.

I just don't get that same lovin' feeling looking at a BLR that I do with the classic Marlin look.

Then stop comparing the Marlin to your first piece of tail. The BLR entered your life later and if you look at it objectively, it's a huge step up!:p :p :p

416 Barnes?

Out of interest, has anyone ever re-barrelled their 45-70 Marlin to 416 Barnes?
It was the last cartridge invented by Frank Barnes(I think of Cartridges Of The World fame) and he designed it to be used on African game.
Should be a good little wildcat for all big game and even some dangerous game.
Could be chambered in a No4 MkI action for slick fast feeding.

I've got several levers in the safe right now. And I've owned a fair bunch in the past. Think I've owned 7 or 8 30-30's, everyone has one so I don't want one, lol. Just could never fall for the 30-30:rolleyes:

Number one lever is a marlin 1895 in 45-70, reliable.
number 2 is a marlin 1893 made in 1898. Cast loads are cheap, easy on the shoulder, and a blast to shoot.
Number 3 is a win 94 in 32 special, pre 64. Got it for so cheap, I use it for cougar hunting and when I'm on the quad. Because I really don't care what happens to it, hehe.

I'm addicted to levers. They are buy far my favorite gun to shoot. Had a winchester mod 88 in 308, damm never should have sold that one, lol.
