The 7x57 for me.Very mild recoil, very accurate, lots of bullet choices for reloading.
Kills as good as anything that I have ever tried.Nearly equals the 7M.M. Mag.with
good 160 Grn.handloads with way less powder and kick.

Gotta love the 30-06 as well. A little bit on the long side, but looks cool in belts

You know, I like the 6.5x55 for shooting just 'cause I have two rifles that shoot the round nicely.

I like the 303 because I shot my first deer with it and still have a Ross 303 and 100 rounds of milsurp hardpoint to shoot out of it.

I'm very fond of the 7x57 too, despite the fact that I only have one rifle that takes it and it shoots groups like a shotgun.

I wish I'd have bought a good milsup one 29 years ago instead of the 243 I bought new.

But I voted for the 7.62x54R because it has worked for me as a hunting round on numerous black bears and one deer.

Well it has to be .303 mainly because I have about 170 rifles in that calibre, give or take a few. (haven't counted for a few years.) and three machine guns.
Next, 577-450, 577 snider, 11mm mouser, 11mm gras, 45-70, 32-40 7.5 Swiss and 6.5 Swede, but only two rifles in 30-06

7.62X54R Why? Because it makes a big boom and you can still get cheap per crate. By the way, if anyone knows where I can get some cheap .303, lemme know please. My Enfield needs some more lovin'

ahh so you've seen my picture. i'll risk it, in fact a few years back i was planning on moving to Phoenix bewcause of the firearms laws, but decided to tough it out here a bit longer

Why did you leave out 7,65 x 53 Mauser?
It's a fat .30, can be made easily out of .30/'06 and all the rifles for it are very well made - not wartime junque.

7.62x54R

I'm not sure why. I just love it.

It definitely gets points for longevity.

I wish I could build a modern rifle to shoot the 7.62x54R. I would friggin' love a left handed, modernbolt action in that cartridge. (Many would probably find that ridiculous as the .308 and others are already easily available.)
