Favorite paper targets?

Just wondering, what are your favorite paper targets for .22 plinking at the range?

I have looked at some printable targets on line, but not many that would seem to work well with a scope (all black targets)

Do you guys have any favorites? Our range is 100 yards, so will be shooting withing that limit.


Would like to see what you guys use. Open to store bought options too, if there are any that are really fun
 
For 100-200 yard ranges I use mostly old golf balls and the small clays the shotgunners use.
For the golf balls I drill a hole through the centre insert a cotter pin that fits then hang with a string. It takes a lot of shotts to ruin a golf ball. If you hit the string tie another and keep on shooting. very easy with both to see your hits and it is cheap fun.

For rimfire sighting in I use paper and a sharpie to set an aiming point. I could never justify spending money on printing or buying paper targets that I would just punch holes in and then recycle.

For range plinking I set up spent 12g shells and clays on the silhouette stands, and pick up the pieces after as the members aren't fond of this practice, but allow it.
 
I use these, for my rimfire shooting, and centerfire to 300 yards. Wholesale Sports sells them for around $7 per 100. They measure about 5-1/2"x 5-1/2".

I make my own targets on the computer, print them, shoot them, tweak them until I have something that looks good through the scope, and is easy to line-up the crosshairs with. Here is a sample. I used this for .223 @ 105 yards, or rimfire @ 65 yards. I have several variations, and would be happy to email them as PDFs to anyone who is interested. I've also downloaded some from targetz.com

BTW...forgot to mention~I take an orange highlighter, and color-in the "cross" portion. :)
 
Look at a program called TargetExpress. It has a free trial period, and after that you have the choice of buying it. It is a great program, allowing you to make some very nice targets, from a single big bullseye to a bunch on a page. If you like it, it is only 14.95 to download the program, one time fee and it is yours. Have a look.
 
Thats a good idea! I'm going to try making some with CAD

You can also make your own Shootnsee targets. I use heavy paper or white cardboard. Cover it with a florescent crayon, warm it up for a second with a heat gun. When cooled down spray with quick drying flat black paint. They work great at the longer distances. I make them up in larger sizes for longer distances. They flake off nicely when hit. Plus a whole heck of a lot cheaper than buying them.
I try to keep the sizes so that when shooting at different distances, they look the same through apperature sights or the scope.

Yeah states right in our Range Rules that we are NOT allowed to use such items as targets... To many a**hats leaving a mess behind ruins it for everyone... I see you're on the island too, what range do you go to?


Thanks to everyone else for the suggestions! I will have lots of good targets to try out, and lots of good ideas!
