I've been happy with a millett 6-24x56mm on my target 10/22. Pretty clear and no complaints for a $200 scope.

I have one of these now (used to have two) and one was used on my 17.WSM, I found it too much for gopher hunting. It was good at the range, clear enough to see the tiny holes a .17 makes at 100 yards, just not ideal for popping gophers.

I have one of the knock-off leupold chinese scopes on a bolt .22 that may get moved over to the .17wsm, and the .22 would do better with a 3-9 bushnell.
