Favorite recipe for 225 gr Barnes 338 Win

I have looked in the archives and can't decide what might work best. Right now I intend to start with 70 gr of Accurate 4350 and work up carefully from there. I will use CCI magnum primers unless the consensus is to use regular LR. Anyone have any better ideas?

I'd start lower than 70. Accurate Powder gives 71.3 with the 210 TSX and 69 grains with the 225 SST. My 225 grain TSX load was 69 grains of IMR 4350, when I was still using that bullet. 2890 fps.

A4350 is as good a guess as any to start with.

Dogleg, thanks for the input. I guess no one else has a favorite load for the 338. I will lighten up for the first try. Only trying to get decent hunting accuracy, maybe inside 2 inches at a hundred.

Powder: Reloader 19 - 70.0 Grains
Case: Winchester
Primer: Federal 215

Punches same hole in paper time after time.... might have something to do with the little bastard muzzle brake, and 2 bedded mercury tubes in the stock, action is also bedded

Worked up loads starting from min load data in the book
I tried Hodgdon H4350 (lousy grouping), IMR4350(better) and then finally with R19 found my magic bullet

That is a warm load, I use the same powder and bullet but with about 69grs. That still pushes it past 2700fps.

I Have to say that I exclusivity use the the 225 gr barns ttsx. The best load is 69 gr of RL19 with a Winchester case and CCI mag primers. Dropped alot of critters with it including a wild bison last december. Does 2850 fps out of my savage.

At 72grs of IMR 4350 behind Nosler 210 partitions I was peeling brass off the casing with the extracter in a rem 700. Hurt like hell to shoot it too.

101 is the load density at 67.5 grains.
