Favorite Tumbling Media...?

Have been useing walnut media for a long time and putting used dryer sheets ripped into 4-5 pieces in with it........they act like dust magnets and just turf em when they get brown.........never tried new ones ...

Before I found cheaper walnut media for years I used the cheapest huge bag of white rice in my vibratory case cleaner.......it worked very well too........and just like walnut you have to clean it out of the primer pockets if you de-prime before tumbling...

once you have brown rice.....turf it and start over.......

one thing I noticed about the dryer sheet idea is that if you only cut it in half, it seriously impedes the tumbling action. Watch for a couple of minutes and you will see what I mean. I find better results to cut it into 6 smaller pieces.

BTW I'm using a Frankford Arsenal tumbler.

So you guys REALLY pour liquid polisher into the media? Have never done this. Doesn't it get goopy?

Try Nu-Finish car wax (more car polish, since it doesn't contain any wax) in your media instead of Rapid Polish or Lyman stuff. It's a polymer based car wax, no petroleum derivatives nor wax, so it doesn't leave a greasy film and it makes the brass blinding shiny.

Long grained rice with new polish finish. You can buy it in any grocery store, is dirt cheap and does not dust up (I hate walnut - once had to clean the dust out of 500 38 spl casings....). I just rip up 3 or 4 2x2" squares of shop towel, and throw them in with the casings, and throw them out after every use - keeps the treated rice clean.

Um, Why? Just load em up and shoot!

Maybe he's just like me and like his ammo to be 'pimpin shiny', heck I even tumble my TMJs to add to the shine, even if I know they'll splatter on the backplates a split-second later.

Corn cob ground fine sourced from a corp called the Andersons, to a large dillon tumbler I add 3/4 of a cup of mineral spirits and 1/4 cup car wax. Tumble the new media and fixins for about 1/2 and hour prior to adding brass. Dirt gathers around top rim of the tumbler, and can be wiped out, cases look great and lasts a long time. Cob is around $32 a 40 lb bag.
