Favourite 300WM load

My immediate question is "For what?" I use my .300 for "bigger than deer", and I shoot 200 grain Partitions over H1000. Does that suit your intended uses? What you are doing with a particular cartridge is an important part of the decision about how to load it.

H1000 behind 200 grain bullets as well. Almost always Partitions as I am a hunter more than a paper puncher.

Main use will be hunting but also to play around with Kong range. I'm not getting serious into long range just dabbling in it see what I can do. So my main thing will be hunting with it.

My son's 300wsm T3 Tikka will shoot 180 grain Speer SPBT into -.25 inch five shot groups under good conditions at 100 and half inch at 200 with IMR 4350.

But we first had to start low and increase powder in .2 grain increments until we could find the point where the group really tightened up. That took a lot of time and work but was really worth the effort. In my own rifles I have found that this approach is needed for each of them, and after we found what each rifle preferred it was interesting to discover how much several were different than the rest in this regard. My son wanted to use Barnes 180 grain TTSX in his Tikka and the load for it as well as the powder was way different than for the Speers. The resulting tiny groups were not that different.

Now I just have to convince him to spend more on a really good scope in place of his Zeiss with its 3.5 inches of eye relief for his sheep hunting.
