Favourite Long-Range or Extreme Long Range WILDCATS?

I have a 6XC built on a Tikka action, Benchmark barrel, and a McMillan stock. With the 115 DTacs at about 3000-3100 it is a legitimate 1000+ metre shooter. I shot it at Meaford last year and the long targets were in the 1200-1300 range and I made consecutive hits with it there, was very impressed as that was my first time beyond 1000 with the rifle and load.

A big magnum is intriguing, but component cost goes way up, as does recoil and muzzle blast which can make it hard to shoot in a group. But, those big fat rounds are pretty cool and hitting stuff with that kind of authority at extreme range sure brings a smile to ones face!

Well, I use a 6.5x47 Lapua for most things. Not exactly what most would consider extreme long range anymore though. I'd like to get into something a little heavier but don't really see much need for anything bigger than 284 Winchester or 7mm WSM for the country I can shoot in. 338 Edge would be fun but I've played the ultramag game long enough to know the draw backs to them.

A 300 WSM setup for 175 matchkings would make me happy too I suppose. But the 7mm bullets have such great BC it's hard to not want to pick a 7mm.

I have a 6-284 rifle that performs very well. New barrel every 1000 rounds if I want to continue making reliable hits at 1700 m though.
