I would be interested in seeing what stock finishes that others are mixing/cooking up and applying to their firearms.
My current concoctions consist of ;

OIL
equal parts boiled Linseed oil, gum turpentine and white vinegar.
Mix and shake.

WAX
Equal parts beeswax(with carnauba wax added in), boiled linseed and gum turpentine.
Melt beeswax and carnauba wax in a jar(sit jar in small pot partly filled with water, turn on heat till wax liquefies then remove from heat source), add boiled linseed and gum turpentine, mix well and allow to set.

Each is applied as necessary then buffed by hand.
(Please note that these are not my own recipes)

1 chicken carcass, 1 small onion and 3 bouilon cubes. 2 quarts water, 3 pieces os celery, 3 carrots, bit of garlic, parsley, salt and a 40 of wisers. No mix! Enjoy.

I have used equal parts boiled Linseed oil, gum turpentine but why add the vinegar???

Cheers

It is an old furniture polish recipe, i was initially hesitant to user it, however it appears that the white vinegar is a very good drier and since I do not wish to have Terabin in close proximity to my skin I am continuing to use the vinegar, with very good results I might add.
