FBI Chooses New Pistol

looks interesting, magwell, different trigger (one pin is missing) and apparently different recoil assembly.

Supposedly, the same trigger system as the Glock 42/43, hence the missing pin.

Also, looks like the muzzle area has the same profile as the Glock 34/35.

I like the way it looks. The lack of finger grooves puts it on my short list.

Yup, you nailed it: it is the same trigger system, spring assembly and block as the G42/43.................................Gen5 has arrived, on sale to the public in 2017

I'm interested to see if the 17M has the standard glock rail or a picatinny rail like the one on glock 21SF. The RFP put out by the FBI requires a picatinny rail, It's hard to tell from the picture as a light is mounted to the rail.

Here's another;

I don't know, it looks like a gen4 that went back in time, it is a mix of gen 2 and gen 1, with a new trigger and longer recoil assembly (a few mm)...

Weird...

I love my gen4 G17 but that looks pretty good to me as well! But I also like gen 2 a lot more than gen 3 so finger grooves aren't a bonus for me.

what is the benefit of the trigger in the g42/43? I am not familiar with these.

Not too much different in actual trigger feel, but a much more durable and reliable captured spring assembly in the G42/43 design, with the possibility of more fine tuning options.

The stock "S" trigger spring in all of the previous generations of Glock, has always been a weak link, for breakage and wear. They can be replaced with better spring rates, but again a point of weakness.

The NY Triggers with the small compression spring are virtually indestructible, but have extremely high trigger pull Lbs. that only law enforcement agencies want...
