Feasibility of a .303 double on a shotgun frame

barrel liners

I think it was in the 1998 Guns Annual that one of the writers used a Stoeger Coachgun and barrel liners to make a "poor-mans double rifle". The author regulaed the barrels by marking and rotating them to get the best POI.

Also, saw a home made double rifle at a GTA gun show. It was built on a double .410 Cooey(?) frame and was chambered in .22 hornet. The guy wanted somewhere between $2500 and $4500 (I can't remember).

Double Rifles

At one time, Stearcy the US double rifle maker make a 375 over/under 375 H&H barrel set to fit the Ruger Red Label shotgun, so it can be done. Another suggestion might be to consider something like the Savage Model 24. They were/are made in 30/30 over a 20 guage and also a 30/30 over a 12 guage. I don't think they were ever made in anything more powerful than a 30/30 so action strength might be an issue for 303 British.
