Well just got my M44 Izhevsk,1946 dated,bought at collector source. One thing for sure, when they put them in storage, they did a very good job to preserve the metal! Heavy coat of grease inside and out,i guess will need a little cleaning! Bluing is worn from place to place but from what i can see, no rust or pitting(ofc i didnt clean it yet but seem to be very good). Bore is shiny but again grease inside so its hard to see the rifling but look good there. Stock have scratches and bruises but very solid, no crack. Bolt and floorplate are mistmached, i may refinish stock, i will see after clean up. Should look very good once cleaned. Here,s fews pics.













For $195 buck, its a deal!

Holy crap. I think that's the most cosmo caked rifle I have ever seen! And I thought my Marstar Vz24/47 was bad! Looks like a jewel underneath all that crud though, congrats on your purchase.
 
Looks like they finally got around to cleaning out the old Cosmo dip tank and found a few spare rifles stuck to the bottom. Scraped just enough off to make sure they weren't selling us sub machine guns.....

Good deal on those though. Little short this month and I already shelled out for a Steyr so maybe next time. Though they keep telling us there won't be a next time.

Gotta say I'm still in shock that one of the best milsurp deals I've seen in a year or so came from Collectors Source. It feels so wrong it's even hard to type.
 
To continue the soviet theme, here is my gunshow find. Almost passed it by as I have another 37 already but then I noticed something wasn't quite right & bought it. Pic is funny cause my cell sucks but you can see its a 37 tula 19/30 hex.

It was reasonable if you didn't opt for the additional ten bucks for them to provide you a tracking number according to others who purchased. There's a thread on them in the Red Rifles forum, should give you all the answers you're looking for. Hurry though, the first batch sold quick, I wouldn't expect the second to last very long either.
 
Finally got around the cleaning process! Boilling water took care of all metal parts and i used heat gun to sweat cosmo out of wood, a little bit remain but for now its good. The stock have fews arsenal repair but otherwise still solid. I think i will leave it alone, the scratch give caracter:p The metal average is very good, bore is good, very light frosting but strong rifling and lot of life remaining.





The hard part is to remove cosmo as much possible from inside the stock.

Very nice, I can see why they are priced so low considering the wear and tear on the wood. Are you planning on putting a new finish on the wood stock ?

Yes i took the decision to leave it like this. In spring when the sun get very hot, i will take the wood apart again and will wrap in newspapers and let the sun sweat the cosmo remaining. Beside the repair, the stock isn't that bad, i saw way more worst than that. For $195, i cant complain at all, that was a very good deal for me at least.
