This must be an Underwood month......battlefield leftover mixmaster.
Serial# 2463788 with flip sight.
Early type operating slide but a "new manufacture" bolt. Two rivet handguard.
Uncheckered push type safety, marked "EW" and old type "short face" magazine catch.
Underwood barrel marked 3-44.
The stock is a potbelly, low-wood. I only found the IO/OI marking in the slingwell which makes it a S.E. Overton South Haven, MI stock, those were only fitted to Inland carbines. So I guess it is a replacement stock.
And the crossed canons eskucheon. No inspectors stamp and no P.
as the previous Underwood it didn't come alone....
This is also kind of a "mixmaster", the slide is a Colt but the serial # 857694and the FJA = Frank J. Atwood, inspectors mark make the receiver an Ithaca.

Cool to see one turn up in Canada, no? I've never beheld one up here before.
Here are my two purchases in February so far: A Colt 1911 Government right in the middle of the serial number range for the Canadian contract, and a Star Model A made in 1938. Aside from both being cool guns, they're a great example of rarity vs desiribility. Depending on which source you go with, there were roughly 10,000 1911s made in the Canadian serial number range. There were 125 Star Model As made in 1938, because Echeverria was operating out of a temporary shelter in Derio after the factory in Eibar burned down during the Nationalists capture of the area in spring 1937. I paid more than 5 times as much for the Colt, because nobody really seems to care about Spanish pistols, and the Colt is desired by both Colt and Canadian military collectors.
It's actually difficult to get really good pictures of the 1911 because the finish is so polished it's reflective!

The Model A was in 9mm Largo, and there was also the Model B in 9mm Luger. The A was mainly for sales to the Guardia Civil and commercial sales in Spain, whereas the B was for export. Interestingly a few ended up in German hands, and several more in Bulgarian, during WW2.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm definately more excited about the Canadian 1911, but I am finding myself with more and more Spanish autos...

1942 DOT G 33/40 Gebirgsjager
I usually chase Garands and Enfields but this was worth the hunt!
It is a real deal G 33/40 my buddy got from an old timer and I am very pleased to get it!
I was really happy when I carefully removed the handguard and found the original barrel with awesome markings on this '42 b code!
