I shot some of my hand loads yesterday and encountered something I never seen before.

2 duds out of same box?

I bought these last year and stored in cool dry place.

It wasn't a light strike from firing pin because primer is dented deeply?

What could have went wrong?

Missing anvils? Possibly contaminated in some way, unseen by you.
Have you pulled the rounds down? Is there powder in the case?
Were the primers seated properly in the pocket? Several possibilities
here.
There were a couple of 7mm Mag rounds in the misfire bin at our
local range. I picked them up and took them home and pulled the bullets.
[these were obvious reloads] Neither had any powder in them, lol.

Anothe one I took home and pulled down had the powder soaked with
some liquid I could not identify...it was oily. s**t happens. Dave.

I do wash my brass after sizing, trimming and deburring.

By I use a hair dryer to dry and let sit for long time to dry out.

There is powder in case....even without powder primer will still go off....

Just weird....like I said, never happened before.

I pulled bullets.

Powder is dry.

Primers look like they got wet....doh!

There must have been a little moisture trapped in primer pocket.

I blow dried for at least an hour and let dry in sunny window.

Guess I will have to dry better next time.

In winter I usually put washed case in steel strainer and stick on top of woodstove for an hour or so.

Lesson learned.
