Federal .22 issues

were they lubed after they were cleaned? ruger factory bolts and receivers dont exactly have the smoothest contact surfaces.
I would assume so but they weren't my rifles.
I've heard countless stories about 10/22's not working with SV ammo to not be able to blow it off as poor maintenance. I know they work in most 10/22's but there is evidence pointing to it not working in all.

Hey guys, we were out in the bush the other day with my buddies relativity new 10/22 its been shooting remibgton thunderbolts flawlessly. CT was out of them so we picked up 2 bricks of federal .22lr and all i can say is they were garbage In this gun.
FTE and stovepipe every 2-5 rounds. Using the factory 10 roud mag and aftermarket HC mags the issues were the same.

Anyone else been this disappointed with the federal ammo?

Were they the Champion 525bulk box? or in the 500 round box that is all in 50rnd boxes? The 500 rnd boxes are different ammo... yes they both say federal Champion on the box but I have found a big difference in the two boxes. 500rnd boxes are junky..

Only problem with Federal ammo is I can't find enough of it. Far as I can tell every brand new 10-22 has problems till you clean and lube it properly. My first one I was really concerned till somebody told me how to fix the problem.

My 10-22 has had about 6000-8000 rounds trough her and will not shoot federal copper plated reliable usually 2 to 3 stoppages in every mag. Mine has been on a steady diet of thunderbolts and just loves them the only down side with those is that they are so ####ing dirty

Thanks for the info guys. It is indeed the standard velocity round nose lead ammo. It was disappointing and we food to a full detail strip down and cleaning. I suggested the extractor might be the issue so he's going to order a aftermarket one. I have a old tube fed bolt action that I'll end up using that ammo if the extractor doesn't fix it.

My Cz 512 would cycle fine with the CCI sv but not with the federal sv.....
