I didn't know whether to post this in "Ammo" or here. Thought I'd get more responses here.

Anyway, here goes........................I was at the range a couple of days ago and was cleaning up discarded brass (.223 Rem). A bunch of it was Federal headstamped. There were a few rounds that had the bullet pushed into the case. When I got home, I pulled the bullets to salvage the cases. Here's where I get confused. All 3 were headstamped FC-10, with crimped primers. All the Fed brass is nickel plated. When I got the bullets pulled, I found that they have a "T" stamped on the base of the bullet. They're 62 grain bullets. I can't for the life of me figure out whgo made the bullets. I thought Trophy Bonded, but Federal's website doesn't have a listing for .223 ammo with T.B. bullets.

Anybody have any ideas?
 
Don't think it was reloaded, I had to swage out the primer crimps on the brass. Besides, there was almost 200 pieces of this brass (as well as over 100 IVI-12 brass). If they were reolders, I think they would have taken the brass home.

Curious, I have never heard of bullets being stamped with a designation. Being crimped it sounds like surplus ammo, but nickle plated?

Got my curiosity up too, that's why I posted the question.

I know that Speer stamped their Grand Slam bullets with a "GS" on the base of the bullet.
About half of the Federal brass that I picked up had the usual "FC - .223 Rem" headstamp and wasn't crimped primers, the rest of the Federal stuff had "FC-10", and crimped primers. It's all nickel brass.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have another rum, and not worry about it. After all..............free brass is free brass.
 
federal fusion ammo comes in 223rem/62 grain bullet.web site does not say if the brass is nickle or not.the fusion bullet is designed for deer sized game with a thick jacket over a lead core.
 
I have a couple federal nickel plated .223 cases in circulation right now, I really like them (probably only cause they look different) I'd love to get a hold of more.
 
Federal Law Enforcement .223 ammo is in nickel plated cases and loaded with the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.

just an update with picture, sniper58 is the man, I've been keeping an eye out for nickel .223 cases locally since I wasn't really interested in paying a great sum of money just to have brass in a different colour.
