I just picked up a box of this ammo from P&D in Edmonton; it is 860 fps and 369 ftlb at the muzzle. I have successfully used Federal semi-wadcutter blue box at 830 fps and 345 ftlb in a Uberti Cattleman, so I think this new Federal Champion ammo should be safe in my New Vaquero or a Colt SAA or clone. I don't think this is the hot ammo not for SAA clones and only for the bigger Ruger Blackhawk, original Vaquero, or S&W double-action .45 Colts.

What do you folks think? All advice appreciated, as I don't reload.

Many thanks,
Albertacowboy

Most, (buffalo bore is very hot) conforms to specs with regards to original SAA type firearms in 45 colt. If it doesn't there is usually a disclaimer on the box not to use in anything but TC and blackhawks

If it's SAAMI spec ammo, it will be fine. You could also compare it to the data provided on Buffallo Borre's website to get an idea where it falls. They make both standard pressure and hot loads for certain revolvers only.
