Hey guys,

I hope I'm posting on the right forum... please let me know if I'm wrong. I'm seriously considering picking up some bulk Federal Independence 5.56 ammo. The price is pretty good, however I've read a few reviews that stated over pressure and bad primers were a very common issue, however these reviews are a few years old. I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience shooting this ammo? Is the quality still questionable? Is it worth picking some up, or getting the pricier ammo?

Thanks for the help!

Make sure your rifle is chambered in 5.56 and not .223 and it should be good to go. Buy a couple boxes first and try it out in your rifle before buying in bulk quantities.

Ive shot at least a thousand rounds of this stuff no issues at all
It's the best deal in town for reloadable brass 556 at a price point that we were paying for Russian Steelcase a couple years ago.
Based on my experience with this ammo, and if your rifle is chambered in 556, I would totally recommend this stuff, however it sounds like some people that have had issues so maybe buy a couple 20 round boxes to make sure it functions okay in your firearm first

My buddy shot a couple hundred through his AR and it was blowing primers out on him. Gun was 556. So I’d be tempted to try a couple boxes before I went bulk, but I’ve seen many of these go through other guns no issue. I’d try it.

Lots of blown primers for me in a 5.56mm AR. One lodged in the Barrel Extension causing an out-of-battery stoppage and another lodged in the Trigger mechanism causing the Trigger to bind up solid. The Independence ammo quality seems to vary wildly from lot to lot. You may or may not wish to roĺl the dice with this ammo. Personally, I won't be buying any more when I'm done with the case that I have. Definitely over-pressure.

I've shot a few thousand, with good accuracy and reliability. Not sure what you get up there in the far White North, but the Independence we get down here in the Lower 48 is made in Israel.

Worked good. no issues. did not save the brass because of the primer crimping ( one more step that gets in my way when reloading)

Did find it shot about 1" higher than other federal ammo I have. Maybe it was the day. But ok for the price point
