I was wondering if anyone has tried federal 20 ga Prarie storm shotshells and what their thoughts are on them. I just picked up a Savage 24 in 22lr 20 ga 3" and have tried some federal upland ammo and winchester super x and not real fond of pattern. I know these Prarie storm have the flight control wad which is suppose to tighten patterns and was hopeing for some users opinions on them. Thanks.

I used them this past fall, but 2 3/4" 12G

They like open chokes - cyliner or improved cylinder. Any more choke than that and the pattern goes snakey.

They are best suited for long shots. Up close, they will pound the hell out of the bird. I hit a ruffie in a tree about 20 yards out - the head was off when it hit the ground. Not saying I was aiming for they head, just trying to point out that there were enough pellets close enough together at 20 yards to decapitate.

I was thinking 2/34", Not 100% sure of what choke it is as it's not marked on the barrel but I am thinking modified or I.C. Tryed patterning yesterday and with 2/34" #7.5 at 25 yds I am only putting 33 pellets inside a 10" circle. This is my first 20ga and I am used my semi ithaca 12ga with extra full choke and 30" barrel,so maybe this pattern isn't as bad as I think, but I would like a little tighter pattern than that.
