Federal Primer Packaging

Id start with checking your bolt / firing pin.
I exclusively use CCI primers 34s, 41s, BR2, BR4 and 450s. 20,000 rds at least loaded and not 1 failed to go off in 15 years

I've gone down that road already. There is nothing obviously wrong (everything has been properly cleaned & lubed and the gun works great with factory ammo and handloads with federal primers), so I can either throw parts at it hoping something changes, or I can start modifying things, or I can just not use CCI primers. After careful consideration I settled on the last one.

They seem to be the softest primers on the market.

There is even a warning in the Lee reloading tool instruction, advising not to use of Federal primers.
I haven't used them for at least 25 years. I found them to be inconsistent for the type of shooting I was doing then.

They likely haven't changed much, but I was likely blaming the inconsistency on "assuming" they were hard.

Janeau is using them for BR shooting. Likely their "match" versions? I used the "match" type as well, but wasn't happy with their inconsistent performance.

This is off topic, of course, because the OP was ranting about packaging.

Like others here, I don't like the large boxes, but I don't ever remember "fumbling'' a full sleeve and dumping them all over the floor.

I've definitely dropped a small carton or two in my time, and it's always been my fault.

The pistol primers are definitely the easiest to set off compared to CCI, Winchester, Fiocchi, and Ginex. I run Federal in all my tuned revolvers and stick with CCI for my semi-auto's. I ran Fiocchi in my revolvers a couple years ago when there was a shortage on Federal primers. Had to turn up the trigger pull ~1.5lbs to get reliable ignition

I'm not a huge fan of federal primers either with the large boxes
The best ones are the old school cci primers in the real small boxes you can store lots of them in a small space
Shotgun primers are worse the boxes are bigger yet
The cowboy action crowd like the Fed primers as they can lighten the trigger pulls on their guns and the primers still go off reliably
