Feedback on SKS sight upgrade options

Ive got a steel tech sight 200 and am more than happy with it save for the obvious downside of less field strip ease. I don't mind for the purpose of my rifle but if keeping the gun shtf-simple id say get one of the peeps mentioned above.

One thing worth mentioning is the position of the front sight when zeroed. If it falls generally in the centre a peep sight at the rear sight position will work well. If the front sight ends up significantly to one side then your only real choice is the tech sight peep.

The windage adjustable tech sight peep will allow you to move that front sight back towards the centre.

Your eye will not consistently line up an off centre front post inside the round guard with a peep mounted in the rear sight position. It will constantly want to align the round guard with the round peep. Especially with a large aperture sight like the HiCal one.

^^ definitely this. My sks must have a slightly canted fsb because my sight post is maxed one way and the aperture on the tech sight is almost there to. I hope I can address this if and when I do a barrel chop.

I will check the sight on my cz again. I believe it is well over to one side yet l had no issues whatsover using our prototype raveneye on it. I would be interested in knowing exactly why people are having these issues.

Would the quick pin make it easier to field strip? I am definitely choosing a sight that has windage adjustment.

I have been considering an option like this for the tech sight but the caveat is that one hole for the through-bolt on the sight base is larger and has a flat side to accommodate the nut and set screw. A quick pin isn't gona do it without enlarging holes and whatever else might be involved. Not that it can't be done, I just haven't cared enough to figure out a way to do it.

Would be great if someone invented a good take-down type lever for Tech Sights.

I don't mind the extra bit of work to clean, just would prefer not to have to use a screw driver.

Trueshot makes a low profile scope mount that has a built in adjustable peep sight, like the Tech sight. It also allows stripper clips. They are a very nice mount & are like getting a two for one deal, rear peep & a scope mount all in one! HERE.
