hey, kicking tires on purchasing either a gen 1 or gen 2 ss in 308, perhaps to replace a ruger gss in 308, for those that own(ed) a ss, what are the pros/cons of one. what is the practical accuracy like between the gen 1 and 2? want to use it for range and hunting. appreciate your comments thanks

Gen 2, the full length picatinny rail means you can increase you scope and ring position options.
Bare in mind, the QD sling swivels are as expensive as *uck, and hard to find.
Mags arent cheap, but I think great.
I have seen them be MOA, but if you want to do 95% range shooting the Elite comes with a heavy barrel.

Get the gen 1 if you could find them new since the difference in price is not really worth with gen 2. The new one comes with everything including the sling, plastic case, manual and 3x sling swivel.

I own Ruger GSR and Steyr Scout and each is unique to their own, the handling and shooting is really different, the Steyr's action is silky smooth out of the box but the bolt travel is a bit further than Ruger, not a big deal if you use Scout scope or long eye release scope on it, the only downside of Steyr is probably 5 rounds magazine but you got two with the rifle. Yeah, the built in bipod on Steyr scout is really cool and quite useful actually.

I also love my GSR as well, it just fit me perfectly with similar feeling to MA1 scout. The action need some work out of the box, it shares the same magazine as other precision rifle is really beneficial.

Both are shooting great out of the box, not like precision rifle but acceptable for hunting.
