Am I the only one having feeding issues with my rifle? Often, the ammo hits just below the chamber. I have to press on the back of the cartridge a few times to realign it aiming up, then it will feed.

I though it was my magazine, but I ordered 2 from 17 HMR mags (10 rounds), and it's the same

How would you fix this?

Sound like the mag carrier the piece mag slides on to needs adjustment.remove the barreled action from the stock .you can now see the mag carrier bend it ever so gently forward "away from the trigger". replace the mag and see if the rounds now line up with the chamber.there is also some adjustment by lossening the screw that holds it to the receiever you might try that first.if this is something your not comfortable doing return the rifle to savage and they will do the adjustment.

As Rembolt said....My new 93FV in 22WMR wouldnt feed well when I first bought it and Iread on rimfire central that the fix was to bend the blade that the magazine slides onto a bit forward. This will tilt the front of the mag upwards and the rounds will feed better.

It took 2 secs to fix and it feeds great now....

feeds a bit better now. rounds go into the chamber now, but the first 2-3 rounds now have more trouble jumping off the mag and into the bolt. Oh well, anyway...

This is quite stiff. Had to remove it from the barrel, put it in the vise, and bent it forward off the gun with some force.

That sounds like 1 of 4 problems I had with my savage .17 hmr after only 250 rounds. That's why I won't buy Savage anymore.

I used to have to hold the mag up to load a round. The one mag fell apart. I had a nasty burr under the bolt like something hitting the under side of the bolt which was causing the metal to roll back. (Sorry hard to explain and don't know what the technical term for that is). I can't remember what the last thing was and I didn't keep the repair receipt, but something had to be replaced and realigned.
Sorry it's not a very good explanation I now wish I would have kept that piece of paper that came back with it. They said it had been test fired when I got it back yet the bolt wouldn't remove the spent casing after I fired it the first time.

I have a Mako shark version of the savage. And the problem I'm having with mine is that every so often with one of the mags it almost extracts all the spent rounds. only once in awhile I'll have to drop the mag and the recycle the bolt to extract the spent round. But I have another five round mag that every round I need to drop the mag every spent round. It's very annoying. And when I was out shooting the last time it looked like the front top portion of the mag is getting behind the spent casing and is causing the round not to be extracted.
I was thinking of taking a dremel tool and grinding that protion off the magazine.
Do you think this would be wise or as was stated before adjusting this magazine tang would help fix this. I also bought those ten round magazines and have not had a chance to use them. But they do look nicer and don't seem to have the lip on them like the savage magazines have.

Yeah mine used to spit out all rounds in the mag. that was the one that was coming apart. The sides where coming apart making the spring push the rounds out I think.
