Anyone else experiencing feeding problems with the 10 round Savage .22LR clips? Had that problem right out of the box, where the 8th, 9th and 10th rounds hang-up. So far I've tried various brands of ammo, I've also stretched the spring inside the clip in an attempt to generate more internal pressure to no avail. Looking for any helpful advice.

I was having a random round problem with the rounds not going into the breach properly when I pushed the bolt forward but that just disappeared with using the gun by the end of my first brick of ammo. I've got the "stock" mag and bought a second Savage mag, neither have feeding issues.

the first time i used mine out of the box ihad a problem with tthe mag sticking on the last round but that left after about half a brick. i assume it was just a stiff spring.
Not to jack you thread but have you or anyone else had a problem with the ejector? cuz after using mine once and the mag issue working itself out, the ejector will not push the round out after it has been extracted.

Nope haven't have that problem although every 200 rounds I'll have a casing stuck in the barrel after firing which the bolt cant remove so I've got to remove it with a knife by prying it out. But that is more of an ammunition problem.

THe problem is probably the magazine has some play. Mine didn't do it but I have had 2 guys at our range with this issue and when they supported the mag slightly the whole clip shot off fine. Both guns were new out of the box like that.

I believe the fault turned out to be the mag catch on the gun, they both took them back to the store so I am not 100% but that is what I felt was the issue. Can you move the mag or wiggle it quite a bit when it is locked in??

I can on mine but I have no problems anymore :D

When I got mine I did some googling and found a thread on rimfirecentral (I think) that suggested grinding the mag latch a bit to allow the mag to sit a bit better. I did it and mine sit in without wiggling and feed all 10 rounds properly.

The play and movement of the magazine in the magazine well is the issue in mine too. Mine needs to be pushed forward and then it feeds flawlessly.

I find the 10rnd interferes with free-hand shooting so I bought a 5 rnd which I way prefer. It also feeds more reliably.

Thanks to all

Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem, so I will try a few more of your suggestions. I, too, have experienced the occasional extractor/ejector hang-up, but have attributed that to the ammo more than anything else...

Thanks again,
Peace!

Been having the same issue when changing to different ammo.
The fix I used was to adjust the ears of the magazine with a pliers. I opened it up a bit & had no issues. Change ammo & you may have to adjust again.
Only had to this when using the cheap Winchester Xpert Hollow I think it was...

What's funny is that all I use is Winchester Xpert's because everything else I've used in my Savage have been giving me problems. Xperts is the most accurate "cheap" ammo and runs pretty good. Out of two bricks I've only had two misfires/duds where a single brick of Federal gave me about 20.

I also have no problem feeding ammo with my Savage (at least none of the problems above) and my only "feeding" problem corrected itself when I wore the gun in.
