feeding problems

Hi, just resently picked up a few boxes of UMC .45 acp flat nosed bullets. All they had on hand. I was shooting my kimber and knoticed that they were not feeding properly. I assume it has to do with the bullet shape. The odd time, the bullet would not enter the chamber all the way to close the action. Just went part way and either had to feed manually or just recycle another rd.

Some 1911 don't work well with flat nose and/or hollow point ammo.

That is what I thought. I have had shot fmj with it and no problems at all . Fed very well. Wanted some more but none on stock at time. Guess this ammo is just range use anyways. What about SWC . Do they feed well in a 1911 pistol?

Do beretta storms have any ammo prferance that to?

The only way to find out for sure is to try it. If you have another 1911 or know someone who does, try swapping barrels to see if that would solve the problem.

Feeding Problems

I've got a Kimber Super Match. I handloaded some Hornady 200 GR FMJ-CT Encapsulated and they were the first FTF that I had with the gun. They're a flat-nosed cone bullet. They're very accurate but would not feed regularly.

"...Do they feed well..." Not unless you chamfer the feed ramp. Extend it half way up the sides of the chamber. Doesn't take much either.
