FEG 500 ES update

About a year ago the forend of my FEG sxs fell off without me noticing and despite multiple tries could not be located. It's a cheap rough gun but I shot it well and was a good loaner for new shooters as well . I found another on Intersurplus and ordered it yesterday and if I'm really really lucky the more open choke barrels will fit on the new gun or vice versa. Either way I will have parts if something breaks.

I expect that , the first one was off the face so i silver soldered a shim on the barrel hook and took many hours fitting it. I'm retired so my time s my own so I can waste it all I want

I got the new FEG a few days ago and it was in better shape than advertised so I'm quite happy. The barrel from my other connects to the new action but the forend will not fully attach so some barrel fitting is in my future as was expected. Some what surprising was when I tried to fit nicer screws to the new action( someone buggered them) from the old they stood proud my about .050" indicating hand fitted screws which I did not expect. I'm going to try it on pheasant tomorrow to see how it shoots for me and since it has the same cast and LOP of the original I'm hopeful.

Should work out well. Watch out pheasants! Those old FEGS are usually reliable guns. I've had a few over the years.

The best pheasant hunter I've ever met shoots an FEG, those guns are solid and reliable pheasant killers. Happy hunting!
