[Have some questions about this SMG...

1) Where can I find them new? I know Zefarm has one (for $1400:eek:) I saw another thread that said that TSE had them for $900. Alas I can't get them to e-mail me back...

2) For those that own one: Would it be possible to install a rail on the top for optics (welding or drill and tap, etc) or does the charging handle get in the way? Looking at the pics it seems to be angled out to the left of the receiver. Either eay it would have to be small, and low enough that the rail didn't obscure the sights. Also would it be possible to install a small rail on the right front end of the receiver for a light or laser?

3) It looks like it uses AK pistol grips? Am I correct??? (Take a look at the grip on the zefarm gun)...

4)Does it fire from an open or closed bolt?

5) General impression from those that own one are appreciated...

Just so I don't get one of these:

Here's a pic...

Zefarm has good service, but prices are "going rate x 2."

Weld a tube onto barrel nut. Add rail to that. The design chews up mags after a while.

Would ruin the look though woudn't it plus make it harder to get the barrel off? If the receiver is just sheet metal it should be easy to install a coupe of rails.

The sheet metal is thin. Plus you'd probably picatinny rake your hand when you cocked it. No, has no effect on removing barrel. Like the Uzi barrel jacket. Ruin the looks? It's a FEG, right? :D

Something like this, but shorter. It could even look like a fake can.

LOL - never understood the guys who put a bipod on an SMG...:runaway:I'd shoot it though!!!:D
Thanks for the ideas!!

I have one and I love it.

1) Beats me. Maybe TSE has one. Call (not email) TSE.

2) I actually did that, but it wasn't pretty. The receiver cover is just thin sheet metal with no clearance to speak of on the inside (meaning any bolt or nut on the inside would hit the bolt). If I did it again, I would use a MIG welder and blob on a small pile of metal, then file, drill and tap it to screw a rail into. There is a fair amount of space inside the rectangular receiver in front of the magazine where your hand goes, so you could probably put something on the side there I suppose.

3) Beats me, but it might work. One big screw goes into a trunion(?) inside the receiver to attach the grip - basically like an AK in that way I guess.

4) Closed.

5) It's a little heavy I guess, but I love the gun. I don't understand why people don't go for it, but to each their own. I've fired thousands of rounds through mine with nary a hiccup.

The only downside is that the mags can't be stuffed with the full 30 rounds. :) There is sort of a bolt hold-open -- the bolt slams down onto the immovable magazine follower to hold open the bolt. So the mags can take a bit of a beating.

I learned to load my mags 5-4-5 and shoot in a way so that I minimize the bolt closing on an empty mag:

Insert 1st mag w/5rds
Fire 4 rounds (two double taps, for example)
Remove mag #1 (leaving 1 round in the chamber)
Insert mag #2 w/4rds
Fire 4 more rounds
Remove mag #2 (leaving 1 round in the chamber)
Insert mag #3 w/5rds
Fire 6 rounds

Just load the first mag with 5, the last mag with 5, and everything in between with 4. Then change mags every 4 shots until the end, when you can shoot 6.

Sine Wave you are the man!!

Why couldn't you just load all mags with 5, fire only 4 on the first mag, and then fire 5, and then 6 on the second and last? I'm sure there's a valid reason, but just seems to make way more sense than loading 4 rounds into a 5 round mag for some reason I must be missing...

Just personal preference, your way would indeed allow more shots.

I find 2x2, 2x2, 2x2, (and so on) then 3x2 at the end easier to keep track of. Generally I don't like to count shots, but even I can keep track of shooting two controlled pairs for each mag :D

I'd like to help you out but there's no way this gun's leaving my collection! I just enjoy shooting it way too much. Hope you track one down for yourself!
