I will post this in parts as well but knowing how much knowledge is in this forum hate to waste it. I have a Felix Sarasqueta sidelock SXS in 10 gauge 3.5 " and one of the hammer heads is 1mm shorter so although the firing pin is struck it does not hit hard enough to ignite the primer, does leave a mark but thats it.Other barrel works great so can I get parts for this? Would welding and machining be an option? Shame as the gun is in quite good condition and I did not pay a premium for it.

Are you talking where the firing pin is part of the hammer? If so, yes that could be done. I had it done a few years ago to a vintage English double that someome had ground the heads down because they had it on display. But you have to know what you are doing.

Thanks yes not something I would try ,parts are nearly impossible to find now after I have made a few inquiries might end up a wallhanger.

You might first ensure that the inside of the fence directly in front of the firing pin is spotlessly clean. I've seen too many instances where dirt and oil accumulate in this area, harden, and act as a sort of buffer pad where the pin contacts the rear of the fence. This prevents the firing pin from reaching it's full extent and reduces the crispness of the strike - both serving to mute the effectiveness of the firing pin. As a bonus, it's easier and cheaper to accomplish. Should this prove not to be effective, it in no way compromises attempts at alternative fixes.

Is this gun equipped with disc set strikers (AKA bushed firing pins)?

Just got the big 10 back ,and she is working fine. There are 2 new machined firing pins as well as a new central screw in the top underneath the lever. The firing pins had been modded along the line so new ones were in order. The gun also was "tightend" up a bit with all the components cleaned as well as the threads,.So at the range with handloaded lead 2 1/4 ounce # 5 both barrels were almost dead on at 40yds.with a impressive grouping of better than 70%.not bad for an oldy Now open the barrels up or load some bismuth....
