Took this off a hunting group on Facebook. Female hunting alone and witnessed this:

Why hunters get a bad rap! Space to drive around but instead have to be destructive. This is my car as i walk into a dead end lease only 50 yrds in and sit in my treestand about 100 yrds into the trees my car is there so they know im in there and i wouldn’t get shot by morons like these.

Wrapped their winch over it to pull it. Why? Because they could. Being a female I’m not comfortable running out after these guys! Probably drunk too boot. Yay Chetwynd BC you draw in all kinds of hunters and it ‘s usually the ... I have the right... hunters that do this. Not true hunters with actual hunting edict.

I was scared to come out. I had to sit in the stand until my husband could come and get me to walk out as it was then so dark out. Thank god for my inReach Not a way to encourage females into hunting thats for sure.

Pictures of her car:

I’m not sure what being female has to do with the story. A hunter’s vehicle was vandalized and that sucks. Not a way to encourage anyone into hunting.

I know she’s ticked off and rightfully so but it kind of gets under my skin that she assumes the offenders were a) drunk, b) hunters and c) male. They probably are (c) but I’d like to think there weren’t (b) and if they were that they weren’t (a). A hunter, regardless of gender, IMO should try to avoid assumptions that paint hunting in a poor light; there are plenty enough anti-hunters for that.

Most men I know would have confronted the pricks. Instead you have a female who sounds fairly new to hunting, out on her own.

Yeah I cannot imagine not confronting anyone doing that either but a lone hunter confronting a group (presumed) of people vandalizing their property would give pause to many new hunters, male or female.

why is the vehicle still parked across the road? I smell a somethin fishey with this whole story.
I've come across beater cars left on backroads in our area, more in 5-2 than in 5-1 , but it happens and usually the vehicle is stolen or just rat bagged and left
If the story is true, that p.o.s. looking car was probably mistaken for an abandonded joyride mobile.

but like I said.... that car is clearly completely blocking the road so why would someone chain it up and drag it to block the road?
again..... I think this is a fake news story.

The.... I have the right... Hunters? Is that supposed to be a slight to natives?

I've had this happen to me. My car wasn't that badly damaged, but my window was smashed and some stuff was stolen. Hell, just last weekend my buddies Jeep had the same thing happen, he was on a two-night backpacking trip with some other friends and during that time someone did a smash-and-grab at the parking lot for the trailhead, hitting multiple cars. My buddies glove box and center console were pryed open, so his dash is ####ed, his center console is ####ed, and the window is gone. It sucks big time, but I wouldn't blame hunters for either event.

I dunno. I can only assume the windows were not smashed before, and if a car has no obvious signs of being abandoned (eg broken windows, trashed interior, accident damage, etc) then I see no reason to assume it was abandoned. Even if it WAS abandoned, the OP says there was room to drive around the car, so I see no reason to touch the car - then again if a car WAS blocking the road, my first reaction wouldn't be to winch it out of the way by wrapping my winch cable over the hood...

Be careful hunting / shooting anywhere near native reserves, if you leave your car in the distance make sure it’s still in line of sight.

What would make her think this was done by other hunters?

It wasn't a rat bag when it was left. The damage you see was done to it, by someone running a cable from their winch under it and maybe pulling it onto its side in the process.

As for parking across the road, she was likely illegally blocking access and whomever did the damage to the car didn't know it was a dead end.

I used to know a guide in the Kootenay's that would park a couple of his vehicles across certain roads to block anyone from going further up them. One of them mysteriously ended up at the bottom of the ditch on the side of the road.

Last I heard, he was dragging dead trees across the road.

No one can say for sure but it is hunting season up here, they were in ATV/Side by Sides, and were probably dressed for the part.

Even then she's probably shaken and upset over what happened.

How does she know they were hunters? And male? And drunk? Sounds like a big fib to draw attention to nothing.

Well if she was only 150 yards away when it happened, that isn't that great of a distance to be able to see them.

This is a reason I don't have any hunting related stickers on my truck. I park on sideroads, or at the end of laneways sometimes and know of people who have had their vehicle damaged. I had someone throw a mcdonalds drink on my truck as they went past last winter, I had a dog box in the back of my truck pulled over on a sideroad waiting for my dog to come.

the cable was hooked to the front right suspension and then it ran over the hood according to the marks on the vehicle .

It does not look like the vehicle was turned onto its side. otherwise there would be more damage to the left side and the left mirror would be squished off. It is possible it was pulled into an obstacle which caused the window and door damage.

not that this really matters ...
