Few groups .308 10FP 24" - Silverdale March 1st

Went to Silverdale on March 1st.....COLD very COLD :runaway:

My buddy and I managed to shoot for 3 hours few of our files, just wanted to post few pics of the targets at 100yards

for those that were there know the wind gusts were from 10-20 km/h N>S :wave: (right to left and back)

I managed to squeeze out few nice groups shot iin total 30 round of .308 (10 of which were Federal Match grade 168gr)

all shot at 100 yards, left 200 yard targets at buddy's place will post later

Gold Match 168's just got 1 chance to shoot 5 group at 100 yards, needed other 5 catridges to try to 200 yards :sniper:

ps. for those that don't know American Eagle is $14 per box :eek: they fly well

sorry to those for inches other than cm's, I'm sure you can do the conversion
 
WoW.... Nice group!!!

Would I see similar results with my Model 12 VLP .308 if I used American Eagle? I believe the barrels have the same rate of twist however the model 12 has a 26" barrel

personally I have no idea why one box was shooting that good, but I tell you, if you do your part you can get from 1 to 1.5 MOA 5-shot groups, and .9 MOA 3 shot :D

dunno bout yur budget but
10FP - $700
Seekins rings and base = $300
Falcon scope = $450
Bipod = $120

$1570 is a bit more than your usual budget rifle :D

but I can't wait to start reloading :sniper:

ps. That American Eagle ammo does open up at 200 yards :redface:

I paid $549.00 for mine, $150 for TPS base/rings, $200 for Bushnell 10X. I would still consider you budget as opposed to really expensive custom jobs that would shoot no better then yours. Great unit.
 
Ruthless, there are a few who are spending near $7000 for just the rifle that will shoot no better with factory ammo.

Under $600 for the bang stick is low budget.

PS in case you haven't done so, bed the rifle properly. Those stocks are functional but the inletting leaves alot of room for improvement. will certainly help tighten up those groups. Reloading might just keep you in the 1/4 to 3/8min range.

How much time between shots? My first and second cold bore shot is always off from the rest of my first group. Were you letting the barrel cool down between shots? I am in a comp next week where we will need to do a five shot group in 5 min with a cold rifle. I am shooting a 12Fvss in 223 so it takes a bit to warm it up.

We usually shoot: I shoot my buddy spots for me, then I spot for him while he shoots and so on :),
I'm still a big noob, I just listen and take advise from everyone then use what suits me the most :D

All I try to do is control my breathing and let the rifle do the same movement it did on the last shot :wave:

ps: my 5-shot groups could use a lot of practice as I always get nervous about the last shot and how not to screw it up :(

OK, so you have already put it in your mind that you will screw up the last shot:slap: Tell a 3 year old with a full class of milk "don't spill it", and they will for sure. Tell that same 3 year old to "be very careful" and there is a better chance you won't be cleaning up spilled milk.
If you have set your goal to screw up by negitive thinking it will happen. If you set your goal to fire the 5th shot just like the last 4 it will go into the group.

If you were shooting a fullbore match you have 45 second to get your shot off once the target is available. So with another fast shooter and a fast marker you could be firing a shot every minute under match conditions. This is the only way to figure out how well your rifle will shoot 10-12 or 15-17 round groups. If your rifle shoots snot holes for the first 5 rounds, that's great. However if shot 6 thru 12 or 6 thru 17 group larger than the bull you are in trouble. One shot per minute is a good way to see how will your rifle shoots. Let it cool between groups.
