I am cleaning up my li'l appartment and found a few targets from last summer. The ones below I shot from M14 I borrowed from fellow CGN'er ( thanx Skimoe!!). There was supposed to be an annual hunter shoot next day in our club but I had no centerfire rifle with me in this little town, so I borrowed M14 just for the hell of it. I only bought two boxes of Federal with 165-gran bullets, so I had to sight in with minimum shots. Targets below are all shots I fired at 100 yards, so there are a few 2-shot groups (sighters) and one verifier shot at clean target. I know, you folks put little value in 2-shot groups but I really do not care. If one single shot I fire is 0.3" from the centre - I am happy. About rifle - its just plain stock M305 with maybe a little bit of tuning, sitting in fiberglass USGI stock and Fitco scope. The whole rig is probably under 1000$ - Skimoe can tell you more (hey Rog you reading this?)
here is the sequence of shots and distance between two holes in every group
here is my last shot that day after final few clicks (verifier)
and here is back side (better view) - I point at center of a bull. It is 0.341" away from the centre
Before you ask - I never shot that hunter shoot, I worked night shift the night before and somehow healthy sleep appeared more important at the time. Yeah, I know, chances of winning were slim but it could have been interesting to see M14 against bull-barreled bolt guns.
