Few questions about Desert Eagle..

Also remember to get it in gold tiger stripe. It deserves nothing less than the classiest of finishes. :p

***NOTE***
This gun is best shot using a one handed fully extended arm with a horizontal grip while flailing the other hand around wildly and making rude comments about a persons mother. ;)
If I was going to buy a Desert Eagle, I'd definitely get the titanium gold tiger stripes.

I own a .44 DE, with the black oxide finish.

I thought of buying a .50 DE for the Really Cool Factor, that is until I compared the cost of .44 to .50!

As mentioned above, .50 runs $60.00 - $65.00 plus tax for 20 rounds. I buy .44 for around $38.00 - $42.00 plus tax for 50 rounds! Reloading reduces the cost of each caliber, but the .50 is still an expensive round when compared to .44, one of the main reasons I opted for the .44 DE.

I'm 5' - 8" with average sized hands, although the gun really fills your hands, it's not un-manageable. I've shot a HK Mark 23 and I found the 23 fits my hands about the same, however, the DE is a fair bit heavier.

All that said, out of the five pistols I own, the DE is a LOT of fun to shoot. Years ago I owned a S&W 629 with a 6" barrel. I find the DE recoil is much tamer and easier to handle than the S&W when shooting the same ammo. I suspect the added weight and gas cycling system both contribute to that.

As it is a "gas impingement system", opposed to a "blow back system", the gun requires more regular cleaning, so it will cycle reliably. I clean mine after each shooting and it cycles factory ammo very well.

Again as mentioned, it is a very accurate pistol.

If you've got some spare $$$ kicking around, and want to own and shoot a "Neat Toy", give yourself a treat and buy one. I doubt you will regret it........................ that is if you are a full blown CGN!! LOL

I shot one in 357 Mag once. Fun to shoot but fussy. You need full loads or else it jams. Same problem with guys at the range with 44Mag.

It's a BIG gun. Not for everyone. Not a gun I would use for anything but occasionnal recreationnal shooting. But it sure is a ###y piece.

I bought the .50 last year, been out a few times with it and its a ton of fun to shoot. Id have to say the biggest draw back is the ammo cost. .44 or .357 would be the best choice for the thrifty DE owner
