I got a Black Special for Christmas (thanks me, you're awesome) and had a couple quick questions for the board gurus.
Should I be concerned that some of the finish is already scratched off near the ejection port? I hear all these rifles get beat up by chucked brass over time, that's fine, but NIB? Can test-firing really do that?
Second, just before the flash suppressor, there'a channel around the barrel with what seems like a useless stainless steel ring (actually, 3/4 of a ring, it doesn't go all around). What's the point of that, and why's it loose?
And finally, I read in the sticky that there's no real way to know the twist rate other than running a brush through the bore. I can pretty much assume it's a 1:10", right? I'd really hate for it to be quicker than that, I already have an SL8 that can't shoot light bullets for sh!t.
Thx.
