I'm looking at a savage model III 7mm mag but I can't find any info on savages website is it safe to say that this would be the same as the current modell 111f in 7mm long? Unfortunatly the one I'm looking at doesn't have the accutrigger but I would like to upgrade the trigger, I know that you can't retrofit the older rifles with the new triggers. Any one have any suggestions other than buying a newer model? Also the scope rings are the wrong ones the Leupold rifleman mark II 3-9x40 scope has no adjustment the zoom because it hits the rings the rifle has a weaver style base to mount the scope but you can't move the scope back it's almost like the body of this scope is too short for this rifle either that or I need to find narrower rings.

What you need are extension rings to allow you more freedom to move the tube back and fourth. Check you local sporting goods store for these. As for a trigger upgrade, Timney is one company who makes a trigger, and I think they are worth about a hundred bucks.

The non-accutrigger savages, even the older ones, can be fitted with replacement triggers from a number of sources. I used one from Sharp Shooter Supply and am very happy with it. Timney products are good as well and I've used them. Rifle Basix has a couple of models for the savages as well. There is light and then there is target light, and that's what the second rifle basix trigger is for.

If you want a really nice one piece base, Ken Farrel makes one that has many cross slots so you can position the rings in a variety of positions.

Also check out some of the Nikon scopes-I put a Monarch variable on my No 1 and the scope tube was 1in longer than the Bushnell 4200 I originally had on it. Good glass too.
