I am looking to change some things up for my LPVO setups (I have found that I prefer FFP for this type of scope so will be moving from SFP.)

I have a Trijicon Accupower 1-8X which is my current go to (which I will be keeping) and I want to add something else for another rig (run & gun type setup).

Criteria:

1) 1-6X / 1-8X / 1-10X (open to any of these but preference would be given to the higher magnification all other things being equal).

2) Preference for green reticles but will consider red

3) Preference for 34mm tube

I have thought about the following:

A) Vortex Razor 1-10X FFP (Not sure it is worth the extra over the Vudu)

B) Eotech Vudu 1-10X FFP (Supposed to be a LOT of scope for the cash)

C) Trijicon Creedo 1-8X FFP (or Accupower - would need to be used)

D) Primary Arms 1-8X PLx 1-8X FFP

I have thought about the 1-6X Vortex Razor as it is awesome (particularly at 1X) but the SFP is a problem.

Thoughts? Curious to hear from those who have handled the optics in question.

Thanks in advance.

I have lots of time on the Razor g3 1-10 and it's fantastic. No experience with the Vudu so can't compare. If the Razor 1-6 appeals to you, I wouldn't worry about SFP, I don't think it matters when you're 6x or lower. You'll either be shooting on 1x to be fast or at 6x. With the 1-10 I find I shoot 1x close but then I often shoot on 6-8x to have better FOV unless I'm shooting small targets or past 400 yards.

Exactly.

The 1-6X Razor looks like the pick of all the optics on 1X (where it will spend most of its time) but like you said I find that I use the middle of the range (3-4X) when shooting targets at ~200 or so as this is ample magnification but the wider field of view over 8X makes them much easier to find.

The reason I prefer FFP over SFP is this exact scenario - at 3-4X I can still rely on the reticle if holding (not so much with SFP).

I would highly recommend the Primary Arms Plx compact 1-8x

I bought one to have another high end LPVO besides the razor 1-6x I had. After getting the Plx compact I sold the vortex and got a second Plx. Having both and comparing side by side, it was no contest. The Plx c was better in every way over the razor. The eye relief was better, the 1x was better, the weight, the overall construction. The only edge the vortex had was the illumination at 1x. It was definitely brighter on the vortex, but the Plx is definitely adequate on sunny days.

Thats great info. If it beats the Razor 1-6X thats impressive, the videos I have seen with the 1-6X make look pretty much on par with a red dot at 1X and everyone seems to comment on how much eye relief there is so if the PA is superior here is must be very good.

I had a look and this is offered with ACSS reticles which I like so I will have a think for sure - thanks.

I'm an FFP guy but honestly, I think in practical application it just won't make a huge difference shooting at 200 yards on 4x with a 1-6 unless you're shooting tiny targets (which you wouldn't do on 4x anyways). If you think about it, if your subtensions are true at 6x then at 4x they subtend 1.5x their value at 6x. So if your 200 yard subtension is 0.5 mils for example, at 4x it's 0.75 mils so you'd be "over holding" 2". Probably not the end of the world.

I have watched a few reviews on the compact PLX and almost all only have one negative thing to say - the illumination could be brighter for those sunny days.

The 1X seems crazy good on these and the bezel seems very thin which makes it very useable at close range with 2 eyes open.

Still debating but this could be a good option for sure.

What forum sponsors carry it? What’s the going price?

Update.

This ia the direction I went in the end. I had a quick look tonight and will mount it tomorrow. Seems like a great optic. I imagine 1X performance will be close to a red dot as the glass is great and the bezel is very thin.

Looking forward to getting this to the range.

Where did you manage to find one. It's sold out at RDSC for the meters reticle and I can't find one with my google searches.
