**RHEINMETALL GERMANY FG42 SECOND MODEL. SN 04371. Cal. 7.92mm. 20" bbl. Beautiful and complete specimen of the rare and desirable FG42. Unique finned flash hider, spike bayonet, complete and functioning dust cover, folding bi-pod, flip-up hooded post front sight, flip-up adjustable rear drum sight.Orig. scope, 2 magazines, tan leather sling, finned wooden foregrip, composite pistol grip, and wooden rear butt stock. PROVENANCE: Stern Collection. CONDITION: Fine. All metal surfaces appear to have orig. finish. Gently worn and normal finish wear. Wood is in great shape with the exception of 2 hairline cracks; 1 on the foregrip and 1 on the stock. Orig optics look slightly cloudy, but appears quite functional. Spiked bayonet is in very fine condition in relation to both finish and integrity. Mechanics function smoothly, and bore is shiny w/ sharp lands. 4-34632 JZ5 (50,000-90,000)

For a second , wondered who i could steal 10 grand from, till I saw the torch cut reciever ,absolutely nauseating!!

Checked the SSD webite yesterday, tooling is still not complete for their reproduction - don't know how up to date it is, though. Not a peep from the importer for quite a while.
You know though, while rare, and exotic, FG42s are pretty much a footnote in the evolution of military firearms. Full calibre selective fire rifles of moderate weight just didn't work out. There are some in Cdn. unit museums, though, because Cdn. troops were opposite the German paratroopers during much of the Italian campaign.

I hope who ever did it was crying, cause I think I would have been.
Im waiting on SSD's repro, If the price is right ill be buying it for sure. Maybe have to start re-loading 8mm.

I know where one CA(Mag 58 is, not mine unfortunatley) but he would never sell it .I did get to play with it once and the barrel fell off boy was I ever saying sorry the owner just laughed
 
Nice!! , --- except for the Bbl. falling off, trust it did'nt scratch when it hit the floor !! Great to know there's still some nice toys around our over legislated country ,----Never been fortunate enough to fondle one, but what's the consensus of opinion as to the value of a Mag58 "ca" . I would'nt think it'd be in the altitude of an FG42.

nope I didn't scratch the barrel lucky me back in the day Ca Mags were about $5000.00 for just the gun IIRC the tripod another $1000.00 I beleave when Peter was selling the FG42's they were in the same ball park but I could be wrong it was back in the early 1980's
 
In Czechoslovakia anyone with a regular liscence can own full auto weapons up to .50 cal. I am considering retiring there. There has to be some way to save these historical treasures from being chopped up out of fear of a FG42 being used in a drive by.
