Hi - today the fiber optic rod fell out of the front sight on my CZ75 SP01 Shadow, any ideas where I can get a replacement or how to reattach the existing tube (is it simply glued in place)?

Just seen how to change the optic on YouTube, so I guess the question is where can I find a replacement rod (in green and red).

Thanks.

TSE gunsmith quoted their minimum rate to replace, $50!!

If it's a $2 part and all you need is a lighter for installation then I'm happy to do it myself, a local dealer (Calgary area) would be perfect. I'll give the PM hobby-craft a try, thanks for the replies.

Replacing the FO is easy. You just need a lighter and an exacto/utility knife.

Light the lighter and bring it close to the end of the fiber optic rod. The heat will cause the end to flare out. Next, what I found works for me is to cut a length about an eighth of inch longer than the sight using the exacto knife. Take this and put it through the front sight, back to front. Light the lighter again, and bring it close to the front of the slight. This will cause the front to flare. Easy peasy.

Nice thing about buying the fiber optic rods from a hobby shop in foot long lengths is that if you screw the first few up, you've probably got another 30 attempts to get it right. Bring the existing fiber optic with you. With the CZ's, there are two diameters available for the front sight. Buy the right one.

From what I'm reading the CZ shadow has a 0.40 (1mm) diameter FO rod, hopefully that's correct!

Yep, FO sights are like learning to tie your shoes as a child. You can be shown the method, but it takes a lot of repetition.

With practice, you get a clean bright and longer lasting pipe, but you will eventually be installing a new one.

It depends on which Shadow you get some have 1mm some have 1.5mm (the Shadowmate comes with 1mm now)
