so who uses the flame method and mushrooming the head of the rod, and who uses superglue? I just replaced mine and used the heat and mushroom way, but find it's dull compared to the plain unheated rod. Some guys say use superglue, but I am dubious about that one. a nice clean bright sight picture would be nice though.
 
Heated mushroom head for me. They are plenty bright enough and I don't want the glue to give way to recoil.
My XD still has the same pieces of F.O. in the sights since they were new. (3000+ rounds)
 
I use super glue on my HK, my Tan, and my Sti. You only need a slight dab. I actually cut the mushroom melt off the front sight on one of them, as it creates a Halo effect, I still like to see the top iron part of the front sight, as I try to use that for distance. The glue somewhere in the middle between the front and rear openings does suffice. You can't notice it from a sight picture, and it ain't coming out!
