Filling in roll marks

A number of people have asked me about how to fill in the roll marks on a Garand.

The answer is the Markal paint stick. Fill in the roll marks and allow the paint to cure overnight. Then carefully remove the excess using a patch and a little solvent.

At least we have a source of this paint stick. Thanks for suggesting that method. For the rest of you feel free to use Whiteout or a white crayon or a white grease pencil from Staples Business Depot.

I've tried Whiteout and the various china markers. Trust me the Markal paint stick is better.

I've tried liquid paint markers with mixed success - doesn't work well for shallow marks on pistol mags.

I just use chalk board chalk

I use white nail polish on blued firearms, black nail polish on stainless firearms.
Clean off the excess with Q-tips and nail polish remover.

Gotta love that white nail polish approach since nail polish remover is easily found or simply repurposed from your wife.
