Hey guys well it's time for a new hunting rig. I'm looking for something in a fun caliber to load that will shoot 150-200 grn pills pretty good. I've decided on a Tikka however I dunno which caliber:confused: .

What's in my cabinet:
.22LR
6.5x55
.270win
.308win
30-06sprgfld
20 gauge
12 gauge

Looking for something that won't tenderize the shoulder after shooting a whole day. 300wsm? 7mm RM? Recommendation boys and gals help me round out my collection and piss of a Liberal.......:)

Bullet weights from 150 - 200 grs is perfect for the '06. There seems to be a plethora of .300 magnums, and some of them are almost as good as an '06. Seeing that you already have an '06 in your locker, why not just buy more components and shoot more?

the only gap i see is between 22LR and 6.5x55. nothing in there going to shoot 150-200 grainers though.

how about a 223?

What about from 180 -275 and call it a 338 win mag other than a centerfire varmint gun that's the only other gap. It could be 338 federal or 338-06 just as easy just knock the bulet wieght down.

There is no real gap in the cartridges you have listed. I would take aulrich's advice and get a 338 or something else (.35 whelen, 35-06, 350rem or 45-70.)

You have all the hunting rifles you'll ever need. Except for a varmint calibre. However, you need to forget the calibres and start thinking about the rifle. Think in terms of a milsurp. They're kind of addictive though. No rifle, commercial or milsurp, is quite like an M-1 Rifle.
