Ok, so this evening I started trial fitting pieces together for the new stock on the King Pin's A3! Fug ugly stock removed & boyds military stock installed for sizing. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Following pics show I've still got some sanding to do for proper fit & a small amount of inletting to prevent action & barrel binding in stock.

I just realized that I didn't take any pics of end cap or swivel. Oh well next time...

Outstanding! Just so you know, Desporterizer is copywrited & I will demand a chance to shoot your rig when it done. Wish boyds made a stock for mosins>

Ok, this project got a little set back with the basement flooding, but it's almost finished. Since CGN was down on Saturday & probably could have got caught up on more important things, I figured it was time to get at it. The sling swivels have to be shaved down a hair in order for the the bands to properly clamp the upper handguard & the stock (their shimmed right now). The forward band & lug will need a little work for a better fit & a final coat of wax for finishing. Tung oil was used for the stock finish as well as the handguard with a coat of darker oil stain for tint to better match the two pieces. Not an easy go trying to match the two! Anyhow, here are some more pics. Not the best, but I'll post more latter as I have time...:D

The original handguard I was going to use had an oil stain originally from the factory. Just a light coat for preservation (no grease remained). As I applied the tung oil to it it came out with a honey coloured appearance. Linseed oil maybe? With tint applied, it wasn't even close to the colour of the stock. So a another A3 that I own & needs a little work donated it's part to complete this one! As the original one dried, I noticed that it is a dead ringer to another stock I have on the shelf with brass pins instead of the cross bolts. That was to be the next A3 project anyhow. Nice how somethings work out...
 
This rifle went from disco queen to, albeit not original, a proper C stocked A3. Fortunately the previous owner didn't mess with the metal or the finish too much. I have another A3 project after this one & that owner decided to polish the barrel. Removing all the original finish. The bore is mint but the date stamp has been removed...
