Sometimes seating closer to the lands doesn't equal better groups, just raises pressure. I found out today that my Mauser 98 06 actually likes a bit of a jump to the lands. I always try to seat the bullets as close as possible , but in this case case it works the opposite for some reason. After 30 plus years of hunting and being around guns,I'm still learning................
