I grew up in southwestern Ontario and learned to hunt waterfowl on my own as my father never hunted ducks. It's something that doesn't exist where I live now and I have always wanted to do a prairie waterfowl hunt.
My first attempt was with an unscrupulous Saskatchewan outfitter who tried to screw me ( https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...e-company-glaslyn-saskatchewan-fraud.2218529/ ) and my second attempt was a friend of a friend who invited me to hunt his private duck camp, only to find a disgustingly filthy camp with broken equipment.
This summer a good friend said he would like do a prairie hunt as well and we booked a 2 day hunt with Michitoba Outfitting in Shoal Lake Manitoba ( https://michitobaoutfitting.com/?utm_source=organic&utm_medium=gmb-listing&utm_id=google ). The accommodations and meals were incredible and Kris, Nancy and guide Carter did an excellent job.
We had an excellent hunt (considering how bad our shooting abilities were on the first morning - we last duck hunted 20 years ago with each other) and came home with sandhill cranes, Canada geese, and a variety of ducks.
Third time lucky - I worked my whole career dealing with a variety of hunting and fishing outfitters, and found that there were really good ones to criminals in the industry. I can say that Michitoba Outfitters surpassed my expectations and we have booked again for next year.
Most of my hunting partners have passed away, so it was a great experience to reconnect with an old friend and to share a fantastic hunt.
