Finally Found an Anschutz 54MS-R

I have been watching the EE, and several dealers ads, for years, and I haven't seen one listed previously, but I happened across an ad from a dealer in B.C. for an Anschutz 54MS-R. The rifle looked very clean, and for $1550 with mounts and a Bushnell 6-18 scope, I couldn't resist. I received the gun last week, and mounted a Conquest HD-5 5-25x50 on it, adjusted the trigger, and took it shooting. So far, using SK Standard Plus, and RWS Championship Edition loads, it appears to shoot very well. I hated selling my 1907R, but because of it's size and weight, I just wasn't using it enough. I expect to get a lot more use out of this rifle.

Great find. You found a hens tooth. Man nicely balanced and should shoot awesome.

I did some more shooting with it today. At 50 yards, most five shot groups were in the .2-.4" range, using SK Standard plus.

I also found a 54.18 MS-R a few months ago. I shot it a bit until the parts arrived, and turned it into my ultimate silhouette rifle.

I had the action threaded, and it now wears a Benchmark 3-groove #5 contour stainless barrel. It sits in a Pharr model stock by Wooster. Pearson bottom metal and aluminum rings with a 1" 8.5-25X40 on top with a 1/2 MOA dot. It is 3/10 ounce under the Hunter class limit of 8 pounds 8 oz.

One thing I found is that the cheapie Brownell's Savage mags feed MUCH MUCH better than the factory Anschutz mags, they are perfect.

She's beautiful Stubblejumper! I'm glad to see this thread as I have been casually looking for one for a few years (I stopped looking so hard after I found a nice 40x) and it's good to know that there out there to be found.

Did this one come from Reliable by chance?

Yes it's the one that Reliable had listed. I was browsing their site looking for something else, saw it listed, and immediately called them to purchase it. It appears to have seen very little use.

This is my Dad's 54.18 single shot sporting a 36x Luepold. These rifles are simply amazing, it would take a great deal more time and money to assemble a comparable package. Congratulations on your new addition.
