Finally got my antique 1896 Colt SAA Bisley in original lettered .41 Cal. It was a grey buffed gun so refinishing wasnt a crime to me with this one. Looking hard for an antique status 1878 Colt double action in .41 if you have one or any leads please email steve@irunguns.ca

Very nice find thats a rare gun looks great restored to.
My rarest gun and a keeper(gona leave it original)is a DA 1878 in 45 Boxer (shoots 455 fiochhi) whats rare about it is its the early fat grip DA 1878 model which has compleat diffrent (and better) internals for locking up the cylinder.
This gun has the british barrel address and retailed by alfred cook gunsmith and retailer england, british proofmarks on each chamber.
I have a factory colt letter with it to.
gun is all original they ordered it with wood grips.
only the first 5000 made DA 1878s were fat grips with the better lock up system (i think it was more costly more machineing so colt changed it after about 5000 to the later 1878 lock up which i have found not as good)
has a minty bore tight lock up i love shooting this gun the bisley and this DA 1878 are the two strongest made pre 1898 handguns when all original . The DA 1878 has and edge over the bisley as the cylinders have no stop notch cut outs makeing them very strong guns hard to blow up, also frame is all one piece.
I have seen them in 41 LC to but there rare. ive never seen a fat grip in 41 Lc tho , mind you ive only seen a few fat grips in any caliber.
Shot it the other day shoots 6 inchs right over bullseye at 20 yds and under 3 inch groups.

I saw a 1878 in 41 at ,iirc , a recent heritage auction that sold for over 10k.also just out of curiosity is your new bisley the one a cabelas had from radar o'reilly?

I was wrong about the 1878 da .It didn't sell .The reserve was too high.however it's still for sale at heritage.but it's not antique.

No, that one was sold to a nice gentleman in Saskatoon actually. The one and only antique .41LC 1878 I saw was in fair condition and sold for $2200 USD.. for ten K USD the one at auction should be new in box... do you have a link please?
