Only took a couple months of dealing with the government. Ah well.

Finally got to pick her up today. :D

My first pistol. A Colt 1902 Sporter in .38 ACP. According to the serial #, it was made in 1907. Came complete with holster (not original sadly), spare magazine, and three full boxes of ammunition. Very much pleased to have gotten it. :D

I have no idea why the governmetn was being so fickle about this one. The only thing they'd say when I called into the CFO was that it was still being processed.

I imagine they were just being lazy. :p
 
Yeah, like I said, I'm extremely happy to have gottent his for two reasons.

First, because it's my first pistol. :D

Second, because the day after I bought it, a "Colt Collector" came into the gun shop where it was on consignment, and wanted to buy it for the sole purpose of hanging it on the wall, never to be touched again. :(

But I liberated it from that fate, and it's now in a caring, loving home.

Nice pistol. I see that it came with a box of factory ammo. If I were you I would get that pistol checked out by a competent gunsmith before you fire it, because older pistols sometimes cannot handle factory loads.

It should be a great little pistol, but like all old guns you should be very careful when firing full power factory ammo through it.
 
Well all the factory ammo available (or rather that WAS available, .38 ACP hasn't been made for a good amount of years) was loaded for the same specs that the pistol was designed for. That being a 130 grain bullet at 1050fps.

But either way, I bought the pistol from a gunsmith, so I'm not particularily worried. :D
