Finally got Mr Tom

Finally got my first Tom after 2 years.

Set up late this morning at 5:30. Called in two and shot at 5:45.

Think I'm hooked.

Weigh around 15 lbs, did not have proper scale, beard 5 1/2 from where the skin starts. Right spot to measure from?

Lots of meat on him, can't wait fo supper.

Congrats!! Went out for the first time ever this morning. Heard lots of gobbling in the distance. There were however, several other hunters nearby and someone was trigger happy. At least two strings of 3 shots before 8 am. The apple farmer decided to spray his orchard a couple hundred yards behind us a 7 as well. The gobbling didn't last long needless to say.

I assume Tom is an adult male and a hen is a female (obviously), what is a "Jake"?

Shot one just like him this morning.

Cooked all the back bone, and neck into delicious soup.
Innards cooked separate for the dog.

No wasting game meat here.

Froze the breast's, legs and wings for later on the BBQ.
