First off, the Knoxx Spec Ops stock amazing!! I started with 3" slugs and I couldn't believe how much recoil that puppy soaked up!! But the high light for me was when I handed it over to my 11yr old. Last time out I taught him how to shoot rifles (proper stance etc) with my 10/22. I'm watching him load and I'm about to stop him as he had grabbed from my pile (which I had told him not to) and he was putting in, yes you guessed it, 3" slugs. As Bugs Bunny would say, "Ain't I a stinker??"
So of course he holds the shottie all wrong, standing in a half hazard pistol stance...I'm thinking "Dammit!! Why did I forget the % @#*%$ camera???"
He squeezes the trigger, (BOOM) the muzzle jumps up about two feet and he gets knocked back two steps before he regains his balance, I'm doubled over laughing and trying to wheeze out, "don't drop the gun!"
For the next shot I corrected his stance so he was planted but he had the worst flinch I've ever seen, I had to stop laughing at him and tell him he had better settle down and stop being a pansy for the last shot or he would be done for the day. He tucked in and gave a beautiful shot!!! I rewarded him by opening up a big box of #8 target shells. With the Spec Ops, they were practically like a .22! He really enjoyed those.
Absolutely no issues with the 870 for its first time out, functioned flawlessly and was a tremendous amount of fun.
