After ordering it Feb, I finally got my Remington 700 CDL in 30-06. Could not be happier, hope to take it out on the weekend. Hopefully a XCRII will be in the fold soon

Nice rifle, I'm sure it'll be great for you! Just a thought, it's worked well for me, with my wood stocked rifles I rubbed some Tru-oil into the bedding area of the stock where the action and barrel sit, to protect them from absorbing water and swelling in wet conditions. As I see it, the outside of the stock is protected by an oil or varnish finish, so why not protect the inside and keep it from shifting the impact point of your rifle if it rains?

Congratulations. My first and only new rifle was a Remington Model 700 ADL 243 I got in 1976.

That little gun kept my family in deer and bear meat for years. I still have it and it has scars to prove it.

Nice rifle. What are you going to top it with for glass?

For now I have a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x 40mm that I will mount on it. It was given to me as a gift. Eventually I may look at something different like a Leupold, Nikon or Swarovski. But I will likely hold off on that to finance the purchase of a XCR II next spring

better to have one rifle that is complete with good glass , rather than 2 rifles that don't have any glass.................
(p.s. beautiful rifle, I have had over 425 rifles/shotguns/handguns in the last 15 years, and that is as nice looking as any of the ones I had. I only had one remington 700, and I still have it, so I have grudgingly "drank the Rem 700 kool-aid" , not only owning, but touting a Remington. )

Never tried a remington, looks nice. Full range report required! :)

Well I was finally able to get out to the range last week, shot a box of Remington Core-Lokt 180grain. This is the first rifle I have ever owned, but I am not new to rifles, especially Remington's. I thought everything was tight and smooth. The bolt was snug, but operated flawlessly. No jams, misfires, problems loading, etc... As for the recoil, extremely manageable. I find that a 30-06 is still low recoil to me, but it seems this should be pretty manageable for most, even smaller stature shooters... Maybe I'm wrong. Was fun sighting it in with my Bushnell scope. Had a few targets, sighted in the middle on the first one, was a little difficulty getting it through the 1st few shots, moved onto a smaller target on the paper and it got closer and closer until we had bullseye. We had used screws in the middle, not sure it was the greatest idea, but with the angles and backstop, etc... we didn't see any problems. Next time I will have actual target paper to shoot at. On one picture you can see where I hit the screw right on the head, leaving marks and a whole in the middle. It appears I should have no problem getting groups under .75" as I was able to hit 2 groupings on another paper. I may be going again tomorrow or early next week. I am very pleased with it, worked great with no issues, feels great too.
