First off, congrats. I've never seen a mtn goat rug before but you know what I don't mind it. I've always personally felt with their different body shape that a shoulder mount doesn't suit them quite as well as it does a deer. I like a full body mount on them, but that isn't always practical due to the space required. Any field pics or hunt story?
Well done.
We have an old goat head mount here and one day a family member went to
move it and grabbed it by one of the horns. The horn came off.
Not sure how long it takes to get to this process but I was sure p!ssed.
That's the first thing people grab for to handle it.
Just a word of caution.
Looky.
Beautiful and distinctive mount. I have never seen one done as a rug before, but I love it. If you have a good field trophy photo of it, that would look great enlarged, framed, and hung on the wall next to the rug.
I think a rug or a full mount is the best way to do a goat. It wasn't big enough and I wasn't rich enough for a full mount. The 3 years is how long the taxidermist had it. I know horns fall off. It fell off a cliff and I lost one horn. Had to make a new one for the rug. I dont have any pics of the hunt. I didn't have a camera.
Yeah that was my first thoughts to. Get drunk fall down, get impaled on goat horns. Die slowly over the next few days from gangrene with goat horn through ball sack. Better put the goat on the wall instead..
